Liberty Television and Radio, (Liberty TVR) has named Kaduna State governor, Senator Uba Sani, as its ‘Governor of the Year 2025’, citing his reform-driven leadership, inclusive governance style, and notable strides in security and development.
Liberty TVR’s Editorial Board comprising senior media professionals, which approved the decision, described the governor as one of Nigeria’s most impactful leaders over the past two years.
The award, from Nigeria’s leading free-to-air satellite news and current affairs station, recognises what the organisation called Governor Sani’s ‘people-centred approach’ to governance and his success in stabilising Kaduna amid national challenges.
According to Liberty TVR, Kaduna State has recorded steady improvements in security, renewed investor confidence, and growing social cohesion under Sani’s administration. The Board noted that the state’s gradual return to peace and stability reflects sustained security-sector reforms and hands-on leadership.
Liberty TVR described the governor as a “pillar of stability”, crediting his inclusive policies with widening political participation, strengthening community relations, and positioning Kaduna as a reference point for sub-national governance in Nigeria.
The award ceremony is scheduled to hold in January 2026.
Speaking on the selection, Chairman of Liberty TVR, Alhaji (Dr.) Ramalan said Governor Sani assumed office at a time of significant challenges but responded with “clarity, conviction, and practical solutions”. He highlighted initiatives ranging from enhanced security partnerships that curbed rural banditry, to programmes in skills development, mass transit support, housing renewal, MSME empowerment, and major capital projects.
The station also commended the administration’s inclusive leadership model, noting what it described as unprecedented representation for women, youths, minority groups, and professionals, which has helped rebuild public trust and address long-standing divisions.
Liberty TVR said the award further affirms Governor Sani’s growing national profile as a reform advocate and bridge-builder. It added that the recognition reflects broader acknowledgement of Kaduna State’s development trajectory, anchored on security, peace, inclusiveness, and people-first governance.
“In 2025, Kaduna’s story has increasingly become one of renewal and stability”, the statement said, adding that the honour underscores “the tangible realities on ground and the visionary leadership driving them”.
